Hughes re-signs with Bakersfield, other news

Defenseman George Hughes, older brother of this years captain Gunnar Hughes, who played for the Saints from 2009-2013 has resigned with the Bakersfield Condors, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. He began his pro career in San Antonio of the AHL, playing 11 games and recording two assists after the end of his senior season in 2012-2013, in which he led all defenseman in the nation with 37 points. In his first year with Bakersfield, he recorded 22 points on 5 goals and 17 assists in 65 games. His four assists in 16 games this postseason helped Bakersfield reach the Western Conference Finals in the Kelly Cup playoffs.
Also, former Saint Captain Kyle Flanagan recently signed with MODO in the SHL (Sweden) for next season. After his senior season at St. Lawrence, during which he recorded 47 points in 35 games, Flanagan joined the Adirondack Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. He recorded 7 points in 13 games. This past season he scored 22 points in 63 games.
Also, several former Saints partook in NHL development camps earlier this summer. Former Saints Greg Carey, Matt Carey, and Justin Baker skated for Arizona, Chicago and New York respectively.
Lastly, Jeremy Wick, who signed with Geneva in Switzerland, has headed to Europe for his first pro season.
