The SLU women's hockey team finished 13-19-3 with a 12-7-3 ECAC record, good for fifth. They were swept in the first round of the ECAC tournament by Quinnipiac.
They graduated four seniors, including their leading scorer, Mel Desrochers, who posted 30 points. They also lost Dayle Wilkinson, who provided excellent defense while chipping in 15 points, Rylee Smith, their top line right wing who provided 25 points, and Bailey Habscheid, who was injured for most of last year, but provided leadership and a defensive presence while healthy.
The biggest issue that needed to be solved was that for a fair part of the season coach Wells was so short on players he was unable to ice 4 lines of forwards because Alex Moore was forced to play defense due to injuries to Habscheid, Jackie Wand, and a player departure.
There hasn't been a release for the new players, so I won't be able to give any info on that, I'll do something once they release, but I do know from Wells that they will be able to ice 4 lines and 3 pairs. Also, Amanda Boulier will return from injury to bolster the defensive corps. However, Margo Lund has transferred to UNH, where I wish her the best of luck.
Once I get more info on the incoming freshman I'll do a more in depth post.
