Women: End of the year

I finally had time to sit down and write up something on the women, which, unfortunately, in this case is the end of the year story. I was unable to watch or tweet any of the series at Cornell, which they lost in 2, though it was tightly contested. And so sadly, that brings me to the final write up of the year, and the final write up for 7 seniors.
It was a pretty exciting season this year for SLU, with some pretty incredible games against Clarkson, BC, Quinnipiac, Harvard and RMU, just to name a few. The Saints found themselves in the top ten of the USCHO poll for a good chunk of the end of the season, and remain just one of two blemishes on BC's record.
The seven seniors had massive contributions to the program in their four years, including being a part of the 2012 ECAC championship. Kayla Raniwsky, Jackie Wand, Ellie Williams, Amanda Boulier, Jess Hon recorded a total of 255 points for SLU over their careers, while Carmen MacDonald and Guilia Mazzochi delivered 67 wins combined.
They were also all supportive of the blog when I out of the blue started covering them midseason last year, so I have to thank them for that as well.
As far as awards go, here's my take:

MVP: Carmen MacDonald
One last time, she gets the ultimate prize. A superstar netminder, MacDonald finished with a 2.06 GAA a .925 save percentage and 2 shutouts, despite missing 7 games midseason. A close second would be Amanda Boulier, who turned it on in the second half and helped SLU become a resurgent team.

Rookie of the year: Kennedy Marchment
12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 36 games tops Brooke Websters output from last year. She was dynamic on a line with Webster, something to watch for in the next two seasons.

Unsung hero: This one is a tie between Kirsten Padalis and Brooke Wolejko
For Padalis, she gets the award because she quietly does everything for the Saints. Anchors the defense, plays power play minutes, and puts up 13 points from the blue line.
For Wolejko, she gets it for stepping up admirably while MacDonald was injured. She went 4-2-1, the two losses at Minnesota. She appears to be the goalie of the future, and I'm perfectly content with that. She can handle it.

That's a wrap on 2014-2015. Looking forward to 2015-2016.
