A very late Brown recap

Over the weekend, St. Lawrence advanced to the ECAC quarterfinal after defeating Brown in a best of three series 2-0.
The Saints took game one by a score of 3-2 in double overtime. Kyle Essery opened the scoring for the series early in the second period when he tapped home a beautiful pass from Alex Dahl on the doorstep. Brown responded later in the period, winning a battle for the puck in front of the St. Lawrence net and forcing it past Matt Weninger.  Zach Pryzbeck was credited with the goal for Brown. Greg Carey and the Saints again took the lead on a power play towards the end of the second, rocketing a one timer past Tyler Steel. Justin Baker and Matt Carey got the assists. Nick Lappin tied the game with 55 seconds left in the third, sending game one to OT.
One extra period wasn't enough time, and the teams took the ice for the second overtime period. It wouldn't last long. Eric Sweetman blasted a shot from the blue line that beat Steel just under the crossbar, and sent the Saints to the locker room happy. Matt Weninger made 26 saves in 81:27 of game time.
The next night, Weninger and the rest of the senior class took the ice for what would turn out to be their last game at Appleton Arena.
Eric Sweetman scored his second goal of the series to open the scoring for the Saints, again giving SLU a 1-0 lead early in the second period. The rest of the scoring took place in the third period.
Garnet Hathaway tied the game for Brown 4:10 into the third, but the tie wouldn't last long. Freshman sensation Gavin Bayreuther used a quick wrister off a pass from Kyle Essery to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. Fellow rookie Woody Hudson scored less than 90 seconds later with a backhand in front of Steel to put SLU up 3-1. A goal midway through the third by Brown wasn't enough, and the Saints came out victorious by a score of 3-2, sweeping the series.
Weninger made 23 saves in the win in his final game between the pipes at Appleton Arena.
The Saints move on to the quarterfinals and will face Colgate in Hamilton, NY.
