Women's: Union preview

After defeating RPI last night, the women make the short trip from Troy to Schenectady to play Union. Union is tied for tenth in the ECAC with 6 points, and owns a 3-12 record. The Saints enter the game having won 2 in a row for the first time since beating Harvard and Brown the first weekend of November.
For the Saints, the just need to continue to play the way they have the last 4 games. Union doesn't score many goals, averaging just 1.70 per game, and with Carmen MacDonald in net, I wouldn't be too concerned. Maddy Norton is their top point producer, with 17 on the season, but 15 of those 17 are assists. Kathryn Tomaselli and Stefanie Thomson lead the team with 11 and 8 goals, respectively. As long as the defense continues to play the way they have of late, there shouldn't be too much noise from Tomaselli and Thomson offensively.
Not only to the Dutchwomen struggle to score, they also aren't great at keeping it out of their own net, allowing 2.87 goals per game. Players like Rylee Smith, Brooke Webster, and Mel Desrochers should be able find the back of the net enough today.
This has been a fairly critical piece on Union, but there are no easy games in hockey anymore. Sure the team has been playing great of late, but they did lose a game they could have, and probably should have won against Brown not too long ago. They need to continue to bring the intensity and hard work that has gotten them points in 4 straight games. They can beat Union, and they know it. Three straight win would be huge.
Puck drops at 4.
Also, Rylee Smith is still sitting at 49 career goals, maybe this is they day.
