Women: Union preview

It's the final Friday of the regular season, and the Union Dutchwomen are dropping by Appleton Arena. SLU and Union already played once this year, a Dayle Wilkinson power play goal was the difference in the 1-0 victory for St. Lawrence.
This is a big game for the Saints, who are locked in a tight battle with Quinnipiac for the last home ice spot in the playoffs. They need to win this game.
Union doesn't score very much, averaging just over a goal and a half per game, and put roughly 21 shots on net. For a Saints defense that hasn't allowed more than two goals in ECAC play since losing 4-2 to Brown on January 17th, its important not to relax to much against this weak offensive attack. They know they have a heck of a goalie behind them who can stop pretty much everything that's thrown at her, so as long as the play solid in the defensive zone, and avoid bad turnovers, there shouldn't be any issues.
Union's defense isn't much better than their offense, allowing almost 3 goals per game. The Saints have enough talent up front that they can take advantage of the soft defense presented by Union.
Run the puck through Desrocher's in the offensive zone, play smart in the defensive zone, and up the intensity given what's at stake, and the Saints should be able to get a win tonight.
In addition to updates from the game, and tweets for the men, I'll also do periodic updates on the Quinnipiac and Cornell game, from a very biased Cornell perspective, given that we need the Big Red to win.
Puck drops at 7:00 PM.
