Women: Dartmouth recap, Harvard preview

Last night, the Saints used a Jenna Marks hat trick to defeat Dartmouth 4-1.
The Saints found themselves trailing late in the first, when Devon Moir gave Dartmouth a 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take long for SLU to tie the game. Jenna Marks won a battle for the puck along the halfboards, and moved it to Kailee Heidersbach. Heidersbach shuttled the puck to the point, where Dom Korakianitis fired shot on net. Marks, who had moved to the front of the net, was there to redirect it past Lindsay Holcroft.
7:34 into the second period, Marks recorded her second goal of the game. She dumped the puck in, and Kayla Raniwsky won the race and battle for it. Raniwsky made a great pass out in front of the net, where Marks fired a snap shot high glove to give SLU the lead.
Less than five minutes into the third, SLU opened a two goal lead, when Alex Moore redirected a pass from Rylee Smith past Holcroft on the power play. Marks added an empty netter for her first career hat trick. Carmen MacDonald made 31 saves.
Now, SLU travels to Boston, the greatest city in the world, to play Harvard. Harvard is an immensely talented team They lead the ECAC in goals against, and have the fourth best offense. They also feature the best penalty kill in the ECAC. In other words, they are really good. SLU has been playing better of late, but head coach Chris Wells says,"This is just what we need to see where we are". It will be a test for the Saints.
Miye D'Oench is Harvards leading scorer with 27 points, but the Crimson also have 3 scorers with 21 points. But their star is without a doubt the goaltender, Emerance Maschmeyer, who sports a 1.52 GAA and .949 save percentage.
This game will be a battle of the goalies. Carmen MacDonald has played outstanding all year, and Maschmeyer is one of the elite goalies in NCAA hockey. Obviously, the team needs to play well in front of MacDonald, but Harvard will get their chances. MacDonald will have to stand tall.
SLU also needs to get the quality scoring chances that they've been focusing on in practice. Harvard has a stifling defense, so good scoring chances will be paramount.
Puck drops at 4:00
