Men: RPI preview

For their last road trip of the year, the men are headed to RPI and Union. Tonight, they kick off the weekend at the Houston Field House with a game against Ryan Haggerty and the Engineers. Haggs burnt the Saints in their first game, putting up 2 goals, including the game winner, and assisting on a third.
This is a different game for the Saints, who are now battling for a home ice spot in the playoffs, much like the women. RPI averages 2.97 goals per game, and features one of the best offensive players in the ECAC, the aforementioned Ryan Haggerty. Shutting him down will fall on the shoulders of Baker and Bayreuther, as well as Weninger. Weninger has played better of late, and appears to be seeing and tracking the puck a lot better than he was earlier in the year.
For the Saints, they have to play clean in the neutral zone. They were bad last weekend, and wound up with 1 of the four points they should have gotten. Clean passes through the middle of the ice, and solid entry defense will go a long way to slow down a solid RPI attack.
Also, Greg Carey finally scored last weekend. Now he needs to keep doing it. Both Matt and Greg scored on Saturday, and as long as that continues to be the case, I think the Saints will be able to make some noise as they come down the home stretch.
