Men: final weekend preview

This is the last weekend of regular season play, and they will end the season on home ice. They host Quinnipiac on Friday, looking to rebound from a 6-2 loss to Union last Saturday.
The Saints already beat Quinnipiac in Hamden, winning a nail-biter 3-2 on a late power play goal by Justin Baker.
he Bobcats sit third in the ECAC, while the Saints are just 1 point out of the last home ice spot. They need a win against Quinnipiac, and know they can get one.
What they'll need is the continuation of the type of play they have been getting from Matt Weninger of late. Aside from the hiccup against Harvard, Weninger hasn't allowed more than three goals since losing to RPI 4-3 five games ago. He has been tracking the puck better of late, and has made the saves the Saints need him to, in order to win.
They also need the scoring to continue. Gunnar Hughes broke a sizable drought, scoring late in the third against Union, and Greg Carey snapped his 9 game drought against Harvard, but hasn't scored since, although he had three assists against RPI. The Saints will need their all-star scorer, and his brother, to play well. They have recently, and consistency from them is key.
If the Saints get the saves from Wenny and goals from the Carey's, they should be in good position to play with Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats can roll the offense like few teams in college hockey, averaging 3.5 goals per game, ranking fifth in NCAA play. Their defense is, unfortunately, just as impressive, coming into the game as the third best in the country. If the Saints can bring a high pace of play into the game, and execute their passes well, the defense of Quinnipiac should bend enough to allow the Saints chances, and their talent will take care of the rest.
St. Lawrence is a good team, and they played like it against Quinnipiac the first time. With points at a premium, and the playoff situation so tight, they need a win.
Puck drops at 7:00
