RMU game two recap

Yesterday, the St. Lawrence women's team dropped the second game of a two game series against Robert Morris 3-0.  RMU goals came from Rebecca Vint, Thea Imbrogno, and Katie Fergus sealed the win for the Colonials.
While SLU fell to 6-11-1 on the season following the loss, they still sit in good position in the ECAC standings, with a 5-2-1 record.  And while they have now lost their last four contests, dating back to December, all four of those games were against highly ranked teams in Mercyhurst and Robert Morris. The Mercyhurst games were close, and the Robert Morris games were also very tight.  The 4-2 loss of Saturday and the 3-0 loss both featured empty net goals by RMU, and SLU essentially outplayed RMU on Sunday, outshooting them 32-20.
So yes, the record is less than stellar, but the team sits in a comfortable position in the ECAC, and has played well of late, despite their losses.  Carmen MacDonald continues her strong play, and the offense continues to work well, excluding the shutout. I didn't get to see either game, so I can't really comment on the intangibles like neutral zone play, offensive zone entries, or smart play in the defensive zone, but all together, the defensive performance wasn't terrible, by the numbers.
Hopefully, the teams good play of late can be carried into this weekends series, a big ECAC tilt with North Country rival Clarkson, another very competitive opponent with whom the Saints are tied at 5th in the ECAC, each with 11 points.  Clarkson swept St. Lawrence earlier in the year in non conference play. Games are on Friday, a 7:00 PM puck drop at Appleton, and Saturday, a 3:00 puck drop at Cheel.
