Women's: Princeton Recap

After Carmen MacDonald stole a point in a tie from Quinnipiac last night, the offense delivered 4 goals, and two points, today against Princeton.
Abbey McRae opened the scoring for the Saints less than two minutes into the game, with the assists going to first years Alex Moore and Brooke Webster. Cassidy Tucker evened the score for Princeton at 8:26 of the first period.
Three unanswered goals from Mel Desrochers, Kayla Raniwsky, and Brooke Webster sealed the game for the Saints.  Raniwsky scored in the middle of a group of players in front of the net with less than two minutes to play in the second, and Carmen MacDonald shutout Princeton in the final two periods of the game.  In all, MacDonald had four goalless periods in 6 periods of action, and finished the weekend with a save percentage of .973 against two good offensive teams.  I would certainly make her the MVP of this weekend for the Saints.
Senior defenseman and captain Mel Desrochers scored the game winning and added two assists to help the Saints to the statement victory over the ECAC foe, a victory that improves the Saints ECAC record 5-2-1, and the overall record to 6-7-1.
Saints head coach Chris Wells had this to say following the victory, "We played our best hockey of the weekend in the final two periods of the game. Princeton controlled the first with great work ethic, but we scored a timely power play foal to take a 2-1 lead.  We worked very hard the last two periods and are very excited to come home with a three-point weekend".
The Saints play Mercyhurst on Tuesday and Wednesday, which will conclude their play for 2013.
