Women's: Meryhurst game 2 recap

After a strong weekend in ECAC play, the Saints women's team were swept by Mercyhurst in their last two games of the 2013 schedule year.  Tuesday night, the Saints jumped out to a lead with two power play goals before surrendering three unanswered goals to lose 3-2.  Tonight, the score was the same, but the storyline slightly different.
Mercyhurst scored twice in the first period, including a power play goal by Christie Cicero, so this time, SLU was the team looking to come back from a two goal deficit.
In the second period, Kirsten Padalis scored a power play goal 5:58 in, her second power play goal in the last two games, but Mercyhurst was able to answer 6 minutes later to extend their lead to 2 goals again.
SLU went into the third period looking to mount a comeback, but were unable to find the back of the net until Brooke Webster scored on the power play.  Unfortunately, this came with just 12 seconds left in the game, and the Saints fell 3-2.
At this point in the season, the Saints are 6-9-1, but sit 5-2-1 in ECAC play.  The overall record is less than stellar, but the in conference numbers are actually quite good.  Its unfortunate that the two losses came against Clarkson, but the Golden Knights are 6th in the country, and have been solid all year.
The Saints resume play on January 4th, the first of two games against Robert Morris, which are two of the last three non-ECAC games for SLU, the other being Syracuse on February 4th.
Statistics: Brooke Webster, Mel Desrochers, and Rylee Smith all have 6 goals, which leads the team. Desrochers leads the team in points with 18. Carmen MacDonald has a GAA of 2.08 and a save percentage of .933.
