Men's weekend preveiw

This weekend, SLU takes on Colgate and Cornell at home in the first weekend of men's ECAC play at Appleton.  Friday, SLU will faceoff against the Colgate, who carry a 4-6-1 overall record, and a 2-2-0 ECAC record, good for 7th place.  Their two ECAC wins came against Princeton, which almost, and I say almost, doesn't count as a win, since Princeton has had nothing going for them recently, and Union, an inconsistent team, while getting absolutely blown out in their two losses, 7-2 to Quinnipiac, and 6-2 to RPI.  A high flying offense like SLU should be able to put up good numbers against Colgate, while stopping the 'Gate offense shouldn't be too hard, as they score only 2.45 goals per game.
The key to this game is for the SLU goalie, whether it be Weninger or Parks, to make the timely saves. If the goalie can stop Colgate before it can get any significant zone time, SLU should be able to jump on them quickly, and pull away fast.

On Saturday, the Big Red from Cornell drop by, and they will pose a more difficult opponent, being ranked 19th in the country.  Cornell sits at 3-2-1, with a 1-2-1 ECAC record.  Again, their only ECAC win came against Princeton, but they did tie RPI.  They were shut out by both Quinnipiac and Union. The offense again is not their forte, as they score at just 2.67 goals per game, but their defense is much better than Colgate's, as they have yet to let in more than three goals in a game.
The key to this game will be team defense.  The offense has not been an issue for the Saints, but even when they put up 8 goals against a weaker Dartmouth team, they let in five.  I seriously doubt they'll be able to score 5+ against the Big Red, so they'll have to play smart, tough defense, and limit the amount of work the St. Lawrence goalie sees.
Both puck drops are 7:00, but again, I will not be at the Colgate game, and will not have tweets.
