Men's preview: RIT weekend

Following quite a disappointing weekend, the men will travel to Rochester to take on RIT.  There isn't really a nice way to put it, but RIT isn't exactly a star studded squad, but this is no reason to take the games lightly. Anything can happen in any game, just look at the game earlier this year between Sacred Heart and UMass-Lowell.  For SLU, this is a good opportunity to get back in the win column and gain some confidence, because next weekend is a huge test: North Dakota.
RIT currently sits at tenth in the Atlantic Hockey conference, and owns a 1-6-2 overall record. They did manage ties against Clarkson and Penn State, and beat Robert Morris, but RMU owns a 1-7-1 record.  RIT does rank 8th for power play percentage with a 25% conversion rate, but SLU has them beat with a 25.5% rate.  Other than that, Rochester doesn't really have an advantage on SLU.  They've allowed 33 goals in 9 games, which plays perfectly into the hands of St. Lawrence's potent offense, which scores 3.75 goals per game, good for T-6 in the nation.  This is a great opportunity for the Carey brothers to continue to prove that they are the dominant duo in the country.
As far as the key to these games, it is the Carey's play.  They currently combine for 36 points, and hold the key to the Saints offense.  There has not been a game yet this year where one of the two didn't score, and I would bet that trend continues.  Plus, the more goals SLU scores, the less pressure there will be on the goalies for the Saints, who haven't really played fantastic this year.  Perhaps a strong weekend against RIT will get them back on track in time for North Dakota, and the mother of all weekends... Clarkson.
