Harvard Preview

This Friday, SLU heads to Boston to take on Harvard, a team expected to be much improved from the Crimson team that finished last in the ECAC last year.  Through 4 games, Harvard is 2-1-1, and were able to beat and tie a pretty good team in RPI, while their one loss came against Union.
Harvard is averaging 2.5 goals per game in the young season, but have failed to score a power play goal, despite having 15 opportunities.  They are killing penalties at a 92.3% rate though, so if SLU gets any power play opportunities, the red hot power play may be stymied.
The key to beating Harvard is to exploit their inexperience.  The Crimson squad features 9 freshmen and 7 sophomores, so if SLU can get pressure quickly on Harvard and maybe get a puck or two pas Raphael Girard before the end of the first, Harvard could be forced back on its heels.  This should help contain players like Jimmy Vesey an NHL draft pick.
Last year SLU took both games from Harvard, winning 4-3 in OT in Cambridge on George Hughe's goal, and 4-2 at Appleton.
