Colgate Recap

St. Lawrence suffered a somewhat surprising loss last night to Colgate, 5-3.  Greg Carey opened the scoring for SLU 5:25 into the first period, but Kevin Lough brought Colgate even not three minutes later.  Alex Hagen gave St. Lawrence the lead again with a shot that went off the post and in, but Tylor Spink scored two straight goals to give Colgate a lead.  Justin Baker then tied the game at three with his power play goal, but the tie didn't last any longer than any of SLU's leads.  Ryan Johnston put 'Gate up 4-3, before Colgate hit the empty SLU net.
Weninger made 25 saves for SLU, but allowing five goals is still going to make it very difficult to win, even if the offense is clicking.
Greg Carey still holds a solid lead in the points category in the ECAC, and is tied with Johnny Gaudreau for the national lead with 20. Good company to be in.
I didn't get to see the game, but from what i've heard and read, the game was pretty close the whole time, and SLU hit a few crossbars and posts.  With a little good luck, the Saints might have been able to pull out a win, but the key now is to rebound from the loss and play a strong game against Cornell tonight.  Puck drops at 7:00 PM against the Big Red, and I'll be back in attendence.
