Ron Mason '64, a former Saint hockey player, and a member of the 1961 team that advanced to the National Championship, was inducted to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. Mason scored 67 goals, and had 144 career points in a three year career at SLU, while also being a two time All- ECAC selection. He was the leading scorer on the 1961 team, that also won the programs first ECAC title. His goals and points total are in the top 15 in program history.
As a coach at Lake Superior State, Bowling Green, and Michigan State, Mason coached two Hobey Baker winners, 35 All Americans and more than 50 players who went on to play in the National Hockey League. In 36 years of coach, Mason collection 924 wins, 22 berths in the NCAA tournament, while also helping to create the CCHA, in which he won the regular season title 10 times, and the tournament 13 times.
Mason is a 1999 inductee to the St. Lawrence Athletic Hall of Fame.
